The Joint Condensed Matter Seminar (JCMS) series is organised by KTH Royal Insitute of Technology, Nordita, and Stockholm University.
On Monday, February 23rd, 2026 from 10:30 to 11:30 we will host a seminar by Fabio Costa from Nordita.
Multi-time memory in open quantum systems
Memory effects in open quantum systems, resulting from the interaction with an environment, lead to multi-time correlations that cannot be capture by standard dynamical maps or master equations. I will present a framework that enables a complete and faithful characterisation of an arbitrary quantum process, providing tools for qualitative and quantitative characterisation of memory effects. In this framework, a quantum process is modelled through a process matrix, which can be seen as a temporal analogue of a many-body quantum state. This opens the possibility of transferring concepts and techniques from many-body quantum systems to multi-time correlations.
